Where to Stay

For starters, there's the glitzy new Andaz Hotel, with the critically acclaimed Wall & Water Restaurant and Bar Seven Five, which is styled after turn-of-the-century Pullman train car bars and serves "pre-Prohibition" drinks. On the other end of the spectrum is the more affordable Wall Street Inn, a cozy seven-story hotel with early American decor and a laid-back attitude. For the luxe-est of the luxe there's The Ritz-Carlton in Battery Park, with stunning views of the harbor, cityscape, and Lady Liberty. Here are a few of the more notable choices in the financial district, with options for business travelers, tourists on a budget, and visitors looking for a more luxurious experience.

Andaz HotelAndaz Hotel
The recently opened Andaz Wall Street is a Hyatt property, but you wouldn't know it unless you looked at the fine print. It's a large hotel (348 rooms) with a sleek and sexy boutique-hotel feel; a hip bar (Bar Seven Five) and a David Rockwell-designed restaurant (Wall and Water) with locally sourced cuisine. A great option for those on business and tourists who like a little extra va-va-voom when they travel. 75 Wall Street / 212.590.1234

The Ritz-Carlton Battery ParkThe Ritz-Carlton New York, Battery Park
If pampering is your bag, this is your top choice. Many rooms have sweeping vistas of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island, and a recent renovation outfitted the classically stunning hotel with modern amenities like HD flatscreen TVs and wireless throughout. It's not the cheapest option in the Financial District -- but then again you don't come to the Ritz-Carlton to be cheap. 2 West Street / 212.344.0800

Gild HallGild Hall
A smart choice for creative types in and around Wall Street, Gild Hall, part of the Thompson boutique hotel chain, radiates cool modern cosmopolitanism with a nod to classic sensibility. It's the perfect choice if you are looking to party, so working stiffs, be forwarned -- there's a club on the second floor so it can get a bit rowdy when bachelorette parties roll through town.  15 Gold Street / 212.232.7700

Club QuartersClub Quarters, Wall Street
On the opposite end of the spectrum from Gild Hall is Club Quarters, an affordable and centrally located hotel designed for business travelers. Club Quarters members pay the lowest rates, while non-members are allowed to book on weekends. 52 William Street / 212.269.6400
